Anyone that has a few years of life experience has gone through loss of some type. However, loss of a child or spouse is something that I have not experienced and can sympathize with any who has gone through this. I cannot empathize and did not understand the thought process of such major blow. From a Christian standpoint, I found myself saying things that I thought would help but Wally's book has helped me choose my words more wisely.I bought multiple books to give to friends surrounding tragic events that I know will come in this life. We should only put our trust in Christ but being teachable and gaining wisdom from our own experiences and others around us it imperative.

I help facilitate a GriefShare group and this has been a valuable addition to my reference library. Both heartfelt and practical. I recommend it.
I have never posted a review before, but this book is so amazing that I felt compelled to! It is a must-read for anyone who wants to help a grieving family and is at a loss about how to do it. The book will make you cry as you experience Wally's grief at the loss of his daughter and what his family is experiencing. It is so tender and honest! It is also extremely practical - letting the reader know what helped Wally in his situation (and sometimes what was not so helpful). I have purchased several copies to pass on to others who need help in knowing what to do in tragic situations. I have also used his insights and suggestions to minister to several families who have experienced the loss of a child. Thank you, Wally, for so openly sharing your pain and using it so that we have the tools to help others in their time of need. You and your family are a blessing!
So thankful for this book, but wish I didn't need it.
Wally shares his & Dana's tragic loss of their precious daughter, Lindsay, in a very open & honest way so as to help the reader understand what the parents are going through during the different stages of grief. He then goes on to give very practical ways that friends, family & even acquaintances can support the parents as well as the extended family. I think that everyone should read this book! It's a difficult subject to address, but one that most people will deal with eventually....either personally or through a friend or family member. This book gives such helpful advice on how to minister to grieving parents & family members in both words & actions!
